The very first thing to do, going into a new year in elected office, is to create a list of agenda items that you want to accomplish by December. Remember that not everything you want to do will be doable. Also keep in mind that you need to fight the battles that you can win.

Be focused on what it is that you want to do, but keep in mind that some things that people in elected positions often do things, say things, make decisions that hurt people rather than help.

There is a reason that new housing costs so much, regulations and fees are part of the problem. There is something fundamentally wrong when a building permit costs 5 times as much as a monthly loan payment. Other fees cost people their jobs, or businesses because the fees are to high to begin with.
