Fight The Battles You Can Win

There are things that you feel absolutely passionate about. Very important to you, and in your view everyone needs what you have to offer. In American politics there is a need to enlist your fellow legislative office holders in creating the legislation, or polices you want to have in place. It is ok to disagree, but not ok to burn bridges. If you make to many enemies on the body you serve on you will not be able to do very much – other than discant.

You will need to determine what you will go to the mat for, and what needs to wait for a different time. You will loose some battles, you will win some battles, but the important thing is fight the battles you know you can win. This may mean that you will have to scale back on what you want to do, or deal with additions to legislation that others feel the need to add in order to vote for what you want. Sometimes it is necessary to just drop the idea for now. Try again at a later date.
