No matte what type of government, or corporate office you find your self in, become acquainted with the founding documents. Sometimes these are in the form of a charter, but they can be incorporation documents, constitutions or some Other vehicle.

Home owners associations usually have several documents including bylaws and operating procedures. Get to know them well because your decisions, and how those decisions are made, will hinge upon your knowledge of how the governmental body, or company directors offices, came about as well as how they work.

Not knowing them may lead you to making poor decisions in the wrong manner, and cause issues between you and the governed. To that end I have placed a title in the menu bar above that will list some examples of governing documents. These will be based on the country I live in, the state I reside, the county and city I occupy.
