The United States of America is very proud of the election process that we have in place and have had in place for about 200 years. We revel in this process, and become more than indignant if anyone says that the elections were not correct, tampered with, forced, or somehow not on the up and up.
However, it is important to note that there has always been some sort of election illegalities with every election. This is why we have election laws and why the process is as it currently is. But laws must be enforced and to enforce laws perpetrators need to be caught. They do indeed get caught, prosecuted, and sentenced to real jail time.
The very basic question isn’t if the election was tampered with, but if that tampering cost someone the office that they were running for. The state of Oregon, like most states, have a trigger on recounting votes when the numbers cast are closer than a certain percentage. This is where most oddities in an election in the state of Oregon are discovered. Rarely is an office given to the loser of an office in an election because the numbers don’t really change enough to give the office to the one whom lost the election. Not that it doesn’t happen, because every now and again the recount of votes awards the office contended for to the person that would have lost if not for the recount.
Once the election is over then it is time to move along and ensure that the elected person does the job that they were elected for. Not easy to do and news services rarely help most of us normal people.
Don’t forget to vote this year.
