There seems to be a lot of quoting of statistics regarding crime in the United Stated of America. Some things that are said are true, others blatantly false. Crime in the United States is tacked. Violent crime, non violent crime, sorted by ethnicity, gender, age of the persons that committed the crimes, and the victims of those crimes.

The data is searchable. From the entire country down to the local level. In the blog roll look for the CDE link, select your state, sort by crime type. These are the stats that local and state governments provide, by law, to the Federal government. In my opinion the CDE is better trusted than a person in elected office quoting a “news” article. Always better to get the stats from the source, rather than the press.
